Secondary Data Analysis

Description

Data collected in the context of other studies and administrative data from the Department of Health and Statistics Canada are very important to this research program. Examples of analyses include:

    1. understanding the associations between types of physical activities practiced in adolescences and clinical issues developed in adulthood;
    2. identifying which factors best contribute to adequately control glycemia in diabetic patients;
    3. investigate mortality and morbidity caused by various health-related behaviours; and
    4. test the presence of interaction between medications and physical activity.

Our laboratory also proudly collaborates with the Moncton satellite site of the New Brunswick Institute for Research, Data and Training (NB-IRDT).

“NB-IRDT provides a central location for researchers to access many provincial administrative health data sets to facilitate research and answer questions that will empower government to stretch healthcare dollars, anticipate the needs of a changing population, and encourage growth. These data sets are also linkable to allow for more research opportunities.”
