Laurence Tanguay receive the prestigious Canada Graduate Scholarships—Master’s program from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. Laurence leads the project “Modélisation de l’impact de changements d’habitudes de vie sur la mortalité par cancers et par maladies cardiovasculaires au Canada” under the supervision of Professor Saïd Mekary and Mathieu Bélanger. In celebration of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace on April 6, the IMPACTS Lab is proud to highlight its important contributions to research on physical activity, one of the most prevalent modifiable risk factors for chronic disease and mortality in Canada. The IMPACTS Lab continues its mission to discover the power of lifestyle choices to reduce the burden of chronic disease. It conducts innovative research to develop new knowledge needed to improve interventions to address physical inactivity.

On March 17 and 18, managers, clinicians and researchers gathered to celebrate the 100th year anniversary of the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre. Two students from the IMPACTS laboratory, Pamela Tanguay and Isadora Quirion, were present to discuss with members of the Vitalité Health Network. Discussions were held on governance in a minority setting, access to care and services, recruitment, retention, and the university’s mission in a health system.

As part of the Job fair 2023, the IMPACTS lab member met with over 40 students. They discussed opportunities to pursue a Master’s or PhD in health research or to work in a professional research position at the Centre de formation médicale du Nouveau-Brunswick. The Job fair was held on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at the CEPS on the Moncton campus, Université de Moncton.
